Although we prefer that you remain as self-sufficient as possible, our Art Support Services (ASS) team can potentially assist you with heavy equipment, if needed. This is a limited resource, so we encourage you to consider alternate ways to accomplish the things you need to do to build your art (e.g. hand tools, ladders/scaffolding, etc.). If the equipment is available, we can help you do things like unload trucks, install ground anchors, dig trenches and reach/hoist heavy loads. Most of this support is Burning Man Project's gift to you. The exceptions are light towers and scissor lifts, which are only available for a fee and on a very limited basis.
ASS reaches out to registered artists before playa to discuss heavy equipment needs and what’s available. Be sure to think through your build plan in advance, and talk to ASS (ass-help@burningman.org) if you anticipate needing heavy equipment assistance. Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly what equipment you might need; we work closely with the artists to identify what equipment works best and what’s available.
