One of Burning Man’s 10 Principles is Radical Self-reliance, and a key part of that is bringing everything you need to survive (and thrive) on the playa for the length of your stay. If you absolutely need something you forgot to pack, you can always buy an in/out pass at the Gate and make a run to Empire, Lovelock, Sparks or Reno. You’ll probably be heralded as a hero if you ask your neighbors if they need anything.

The option of absolute last resort should be sending something to yourself. The U.S. Postal Service, FedEx and UPS do not deliver to the playa. The right way to to do this (to maximize likelihood you will actually receive it) is to have your letter or package sent via U.S. Mail to the Gerlach Post Office.

To do this, the address should be as follows:

Only items sent through the U.S. Postal Service will be accepted at the Gerlach Post Office. Do not use FedEx or UPS to send any items.

The Gerlach post office is open Monday through Friday, 8–11 am and 11:30 am – 2:30 pm. The post office receives hundreds of parcels during the event (on top of the regular mail for Gerlach residents), so please be patient and respectful. You will be asked to show a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport). You cannot pick up mail for another individual even if you have their photo ID with you.
