While kids are absolutely welcome at Burning Man, and have been a part of Burning Man since its beginning, the decision to bring children under age 18 to Burning Man should not be taken lightly, especially if you have never attended. Many adults struggle to manage the harsh and unpredictable elements and environment as it is, and providing care for children can add a level of complexity that parents should take time to consider. The desert can be very hot and arid and staying protected from the sun and hydrated is very important. Children are especially vulnerable to these elements. There are also areas of the event that are “adult-oriented” and not appropriate for children. For this reason, children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
